1. Regional Targeting

What regions can I target?

International–3 options

  1. USA (only) NB. This excludes the ‘11 states’
  2. Rest of the World (excludes USA and UK)
  3. World (includes USA [as #1 above] + Rest of the World [as #2 above])

UK

  1. UK only (separate UK only account)

If you are happy for your keyword listings to be served to both the United States and the Rest of the World (excluding the UK) then please select the World option from the drop down list.

NB, this option will save you time when managing your account for you will be able to bid on your keywords from one central control panel–We would recommend that you set your bids to ‘auto’ at this time should you wish to continue targeting the World.

If you are unable to target the United States of America following the recent change in legislation please select the Rest of the World option. If, conversely, you are only interested in traffic from United States then please select USA from the drop down. If you wish to target the UK then you will need to manage a separate account at http://advertiser.uk.gambling.com at this time.

If necessary, you can change your geo targeting options within the ‘Edit Category’ function.

Can I submit my listings in a foreign language?

Yes, currently French and Spanish, with more local languages to follow.

How do I do it?

The translation option is very straight forward and forms part of the existing listings submission process within your International PPC account.

Simply place a tick next to any keyword you would like to be translated and then click edit listings. You will see that on the edit listings page any keyword that has the option to be translated, will appear with French and Spanish tick box options.

Tick whichever language you would like your listings to be translated. Once you click submit the listings will be sent to English editorial first for approval, as usual*. Once these listings have been approved they will then be translated into your chosen language. This translation process takes up to a further 30 minutes to complete.

Once completed a new menu option called ‘translations’ will appear at the top of the page in your account (between Awards and FAQ). When you click this button you will be presented with the language translations of your English titles and descriptions. Where numerous keywords share the same title and description you will see a number next to the field called ‘Listings with this text’ which denotes the number of keywords associated with this translation. You then have a choice of 4 options:

  1. ‘approve’ the translations, in which case they go live to the language specific countries, so for example French will be presented to French IPs, Spanish to Spanish IPs
  2. ‘delete’ if you do not want to proceed
  3. ‘translate again’ if you are not happy with the literal translation. Taking this action will mean that your English approved listings will go live until such time as the rejected transaction is reviewed by the foreign language editorial team. This process can take up to 5 working days. Once the foreign language team has checked the translation and made any necessary changes the translated listing will go live automatically.
  4. ‘ignore’ just means that the system will take no action and next time you come back to the page the listing will still be there waiting for you to take actions 1 to 3. [NB, this will not affect the listings still be served in English]

*During this process your English language listings will be the default display option and be live (subject to the category being funded) until the translated listings have either been approved by you or have been retranslated, a process which can take up to 5 working days. Once a listing has been retranslated it will automatically go live replacing the existing listing in the relevant region, i.e. visitors identified with a French IP address will see French language listings.

NB: If you do not wish to translate your listings into the local language then your English language listings will be displayed instead.

NB: Only a limited number of keywords are available for translation. These are denoted by a [T] symbol in the core keyword list on page 1 of the add listings process.

If you have any questions please email SearchSupport@gambling.com.

2. Keyword Ad Hints

What are keywords and how do they work?

Keywords and Keyphrases enable a Gambling.com user to search for content relevant to their needs. Once a search has taken place the advertisers who have bid on that particular keyword will be ranked in order of their bid position. For example the advertiser bidding the most for that keyword will be ranked number 1 and appear at the top of the page followed in 2nd place by the second highest bidder. Only when your keyword ad is clicked on will you be charged the rate that you bid.

How do I start submitting listings?

In Control Panel click Add Category/Brand, click the new brand button, add brand e.g. Casino On Net, Partypoker, Bodog. Now add category name–you can use the text at the top of the Add New Category pop-up window, add brand logo and click submit.

How do I add new listings to my existing list of keywords?

From the Control Panel screen click the Add Listings tab–from the drop down menu highlight the category. Now add your keywords in the box on the right hand side manually or click the Core Keywords tab. From the Core Keywords pop-up window select the most appropriate keywords from the list and then click the Add and Close tab. Having added your keywords click on the Continue tab in the bottom right hand corner of the page.

How do I create a title and description?

For multiple listings you can add the same details across all keywords or click on the separate titles and descriptions for each keyword tab and fill in the details separately.

How many keyword ads am I allowed in my account?

We recommend that advertisers register up to a maximum of 500 keywords per account. Anything more will make the management of your account cumbersome for you.

Can I add more keyword ads in the future? If so how?

Simply login to your account and click the add listings button. From there you will be able to add keywords or keyphrases of your choice. Alternatively you can select the See core keywords button to select the most popular keyword search themes.

Can I pause my ads and make them live again at a later date?

Yes. Click on the category name you wish to take offline and on the refreshed page select all of the keywords you wish to pause and then click the Listings On/Off button. When you wish to resume the category simply repeat the process and click the Listings On/Off button again.

How often can I edit keyword ads in order to keep the titles, descriptions and offers relevant?

Login to your account and click on the category name you wish to edit. On the refreshed page select all the keyword listings you wish to amend and the click the Edit Listings button at the top of the page. You can now change the title, description text and the tracking url as you wish. Whatever changes you make will need to be approved by our editorial team which will take between 2 and 3 working days to process. In the meantime your old ad will appear until the changes have been approved, unless you click on the pause option in Step 3.

Should I bid on both the plural and singular versions of a keyword?

Yes to guarantee you are displayed you must also bid on the plural versions of keywords.

What is your Editorial Policy?

We decide whether the keyword is relevant to your title, description and what appears on your website. For example an advertiser cannot bid on the keyword ‘Bingo’ if a user cannot play bingo on the advertisers sites. For a full list of the relevancy criteria click here.

How do I view pending keywords?

Login into your account manager and you will see a list of your current categories and their status. Click on the category name you wish to view. If the keywords in the resulting list are set to yellow then the keywords are yet to be approved or have been rejected. If the status button is green it means your listings have been approved and that they are now live.

How do I know if my keywords have been rejected?

Select the category name you wish to view. On the resulting screen keywords with a yellow status have yet to be approved and listings in red have been rejected. We will email you if the editorial team reject any of your keywords and will provide an explanation at the time.

How do I change my keyword bids?

Click on the category name you wish to ammend. On the resulting page you can now either move your bids in the Bid/Max auto bid column or select the desired position you wish to be listed at. If you wish to place a maximum amount you are willing to pay per click then you can enter that price in the Bid/Max auto bid column and select auto from the bid mode bar. This means that even if other advertisers outbid you whilst you are away from the management tool the system will automatically move you one cent above your competitor up to the maximum bid price you have designated. The table to the right shows the current top 5 bids so you know how much to bid to be listed in the top 5.

Can you help me select relevant keywords?

Yes and no. You are in a better position to know which keywords apply to your business so it is best that you decide what to include. However we have created the Key Coreword tool in the Add listings section so that you can select a vast array of common keywords. Click on the Add listings button and on the next page click the Core Keywords button. This will take you to the main list. This should inspire you to think of further derivatives that may apply to you.

How do I submit my company logo?

When registering a brand/category simply upload a 90 x 53 graphic with a maximum file size of 3KB. If you want to change the logo at any time simply select the category in question and click the ‘edit category’ button. Now select the category you wish to amend and upload your new logo.

3. Bidding Hints

What is the minimum bid I can place?

The minimum keyword bid on the Gambling.com search engine is $0.20.

How do I make a fixed bid?

Enter your bid in the field and if required click on the Copy Down button to set all bids to the same amount–bids can be ammended individually by manually changing the specific keyword bid as required.

How do I change the Autobid feature?

Select Autobid, then set required position and specify bid price as referred to above, to submit this click Update Bids.

Can I leave all my bids at the minimum price?

You can do whatever you want with your account but if you are looking to generate quality players then research shows that you need to be in the top 5 bid positions to obtain 90% of the visiting users.

What happens if bids are tied?

In the case of tied bids the advertiser who first selected that price will be listed ahead of the other. If there are multiple advertisers tied then the same rule applies with the first most historic bid taking that position followed by the second most historic and then the third and so on.

Can I make all my bids top in one go?

Yes it’s very easy. Simply click on the category you wish to change bids for. Select autobids from the bid type drop down menu in the cell at the top of the table. Now select the position from the desired position drop down that you would like. Now select the price you are willing to pay for that position for your keywords. Now click on the two over lapping pages icon to the right of these fields and your bids will be copied down the table. Then click update bids. This process ensures that your account automatically bids for the position you selected up to but not above the bid amount you specified. If the price for your desired position falls then the cost to you will also fall so that you are always 1c above the next highest bidder.

Will my bids ever expire?

Not unless the funds in your account run out. As it is a free market your listing will always appear whilst your account is funded. Should the account run out of funds your listing will be removed until such time as you are able to fund it again. When funded you will once again appear on the search engine at the bidding prices you have listed.

Can I pay to own a position indefinitely?

No we have set this up as a free market so the highest bidder will always prevail!

Can I lower my bids as well as raise them?

You can do whatever you like with your bids as long as they are not below the minimum bid price of $0.20. Please note changes to your bids may take up to 4 minutes to be reflected in your account.
