Roy The Boy Helping Autistic Kids Charity This Weekend

Irish pro poker player Roy Brindley will be the host this weekend at a €25 rebuy charity tournament in the Liffey Arms, Newbridge, Co.

Kidare, Ireland, all to help Saplings, a school for autistic children.

The prize pool will have a percentage donated to the school, with sizeable donations coming in from the likes of LadbrokesPoker.com, PaddyPower.com, APAT and BetdaqPoker.com.

As well as the chance to take a flop with the Irish pro, players will also be able to take part in a charity auction with a range of lots, including a snooker cue signed by former World Champion Steve Davis, a signed Padraig Harrington golf club, and a signed football shirt from former Ireland and Liverpool football player Ronnie Whelan.

The tournament encourages all levels of players to come along and support the fund-raiser, with beginners classes running from 7pm, and the tournament itself kicking off an hour later.

I like to hear when when celebs of any walk of fame step up to help schools and charities for kids. It's a strange association-gambling with a school for the autistic, but so nice to see the proceeds of gambling to help so much.

It is rather an odd couple idea but I'm very glad to see that it benefits children with autism. Perhaps if more celebrities get involved, there will be more awareness and education coming forth on autism as a condition.

I think its great that they are willing to lend their name and talent to such things. Having beginners classes before the official tournament means that everyone will have a chance to learn the rules and enjoy participating as well.

Hey, stories like this one always manage to warm my heart! More well known gamblers should follow Roy's example, and help out with charity as much as possible.
