Evdakov Breaks Record Cashes in One Series

Russian poker player Nikolay Evdakov has officially broken the record for the number of cashes in one World Series of Poker.

His cash in the $2k No Limit Hold’em event saw the player make the money in his ninth event of the 2008 WSOP, breaking the previous record of eight.

Evdakov’s ninth cash came in the $2,000 No Limit Hold’em event where he ended up finishing 158th for a total of $4,216. The previous record of eight cashes in one year was shared by Humberto Brenes (2006), Phil Hellmuth Jr. (2006), Chad Brown (2007) and Michael Binger (2007).

Evdakov’s other cashes were as follows:

$10,000 Pot Limit Hold''em World Championship (12th, $49,632)

$1,500 No Limit Hold'em (139th, $4,559)

$1,000 No Limit Hold'em with Rebuys (48th, $9,839)

$10,000 Mixed World Championship (24th, $16,243)

$5,000 No Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball with Rebuys (13th, $26,025)

$5,000 Pot Limit Omaha with Rebuys (14th, $61,718)

$1,500 Pot Limit Omaha (30th, $16,849)

Can we say someone that is really motivated here? i wonder what the plans are for record breaking and celebrating after wards, think it will involve any more gaming?

He obviously is a well rounded player who can play a variety of games with skill. Of course, as always, there is a little luck thrown into the mix but that's a great record to set. It may take a while to break it.

I wish I could break a record but I think the only record I will ever break are of the vinyl variety. That is pretty cool for him though.

I'd like to be his apprentice. A lot can be said from learning from the best. Luck does play a part in gambling but can one guy really be that "lucky"?

I wonder how he was preparing going into all of this, since those are some seriousl numbers and record breaking stats. Was it all intentional, worked and trained hard, or all pure luck?

Motivation has to be a great deal of it Martin but I am thinking that a good bit more is of patience and practice for something like this.

I'm sure he has worked and trained hard. And I am also sure luck played a significant part of his winning.
