Well, its not just a case of settings laws and then letting people do what they want. They are talking about blocking access to these sites for the entire country-which would successfully put and end to it for Australia. Terrible shame.

If it is a moral issue then I guess I can't blame them, if that is their choice. Maybe gambling issues are bad over there.

Fielding and the rest of the Aussie government needs to take a look at the problems the US is having on enforcing such stupid laws. It won't work there anymore than it does here.

I think you will see more of this after the recent case in Kentucky where the judge continues to hold up that state's right to seize domain names. It's a dangerous precedent for online freedom and it's already catching on.

Many politicians seem to think that people need to be wrapped in cotton wool so as not to be danger to ourselves. Mainly it is from a moral standpoint, in their own minds they think that it is wrong to do so, so they think everyone else should suffer.

What is it with these people trying to mandate how and where I spend my money?! First, the US is trying to ban online sites, now Australia. If you want my money, show me why I should spend it with you, don't demand I do anything. That's the surest way not to get a piece of my pie.
