Pamela Does Poker

Pamela Anderson

With one of the most famous pairs in the world, it’s little wonder that buxom beauty Pamela Anderson has gravitated to the poker world.

Discovered on the big screen of a football match, the career and life of Pamela Anderson has been far from ordinary. Famed originally for her role in Baywatch, Pammy has also gained press – for good or ill – through her Playboy spreads, risque; home videos, and her outspoken stance on animal rights as an activist for PETA.

Nonetheless, her latest pursuit is far less likely to cause any controversy as she launches PamelaPoker.com, an online poker room on the Doyle's Room network. We spoke with the newly-married Mrs. Kid Rock, about her new site and the feeling of having Doyle behind her (oh, behave).

Why did you decide to open your own poker site?
For the last ten years, I’ve been asked by all sorts of online casinos to promote their products or be involved on different levels, but I’ve decided not to get involved for whatever reason. But last time my Dad was in town, he met with Doyle [Brunson], and they decided this is something I should be doing. So I’m just listening to my Dad (laughs).

So Doyle’s involvement was a big factor?
Yeah. I’d heard about this [online poker] for a very long time, but when Doyle came to me, I thought, “Well, he’s the master/The King of Poker” so if I’m going to do it, I might as well do it with the big guy.

Why should players come to PamelaPoker.com? What surprises do you have in store?
There’s going to be lots of surprises. I just want to make it really lighthearted and a very sexy, fun site to kind of dip in and out of. Hopefully, it will be fun and good for people that are just starting to play poker because I want to learn along with everybody.

Can players actually interact with you?
Yeah, absolutely. I’m actually going on every Sunday, between 6pm and 7pm. We’re just starting that now, so I’m going to be on their regularly, chatting with people, hanging out and seeing what’s going on.

As you mentioned, you’re very new to the game. Are your skills improving?
Well, I only just learned how to play so we’ll see where we go from here (laughs)! I’m good at bluffing though!

Are you enjoying it?
I am enjoying it, I think it’s great. I’m glad I’m doing this right now. I’m really getting a kick out of it.

I know it’s a bit early in your career, but how would you describe the Pamela Anderson style of poker?
I get on the phone with my Dad and say: “If I have this what do I do?” (laughs) At this point that’s where I’m at.

Have you also spoken with Doyle about strategy? Is he providing any tutoring or mentoring for you?
He is, but he’s mainly trying to help me avoid picking up any bad poker habits. We’ve actually hung out a lot, and he’s really excited about this, and it feels good that I’ve got him behind me.

So what are Doyle’s ‘golden rules’? What has he said you must not do?
[Doing her best Doyle impersonation] Must-not-stop-playing-poker (laughs) And don’t give up!

Speaking of Doyle, I saw an advert online during which you kiss him on the cheek. Where you worried that at his age, a kiss from a bombshell like you might have killed him?
No, are you kidding? He’s had a lot more experience at that than me. It almost killed me!

We all recently learnt of your nuptials with Kid Rock. Will he be joining you online?
He thinks the whole poker site is a great thing for me, so I’ll get him on there. In fact, a lot of my friends will be coming online.

Have you guys played each other before?
No, we’ve been busy doing other things. (Ed’s note: I wonder what she could mean?)

Anyone in particular you can tell us about?
I hang out with pretty much everybody, so I won’t make any promises yet, but there will certainly be a lot of surprise guests.

With poker’s popularity in Hollywood, have you been around any great celebrity home games?
No, I haven’t but I have a lot of friends who play. I mean, this is really what brought poker to my attention, and that fact of how popular it has become. You know, these days people are watching WSOP between NASCAR and baseball. I’m just really impressed with how many people are playing, and I like the whole online thing – it beats sitting in a basement somewhere (laughs).

If the opportunity arose to play against one of the Hollywood celebrities, who would you least like to come up against?
Wow, there are a lot of great players out there, but if we’re talking about another female celebrity, I’d have to say Jennifer Tilly.

What is the biggest bluff you’ve ever pulled?
I’m pulling it right now.

What are your hopes for Pamela Poker?
That everyone comes along and has a good time and enjoys it.
