Top 10 Tips For In-Playing Betting
However there are a number of factors to consider when looking at in-play gambling, small tips which will ensure you get maximum enjoyment and maximum results. These include :-
1. Always be aware of what you total liability or exposure is at any one time. It is very easy to get carried away and over extended your exposure, which could potentially wipe you out. While you will at all times need funds in your account to cover your maximum exposure, and not be able to go over this, it is vital that you are aware of the overall position.
2. Never be afraid to hedge off your bets during play, or open up new ones. While you will need to react quickly, there is every chance you can take advantage of things happening as the event progresses.
3. Never play in-play betting unless you have broadband. The difference between winning, losing and that split second timing is vital. If your system is too slow, you may not be able to hedge your bet in time, or miss the best odds on a new one.
4. It can be very dangerous to leave limit bets with an “event in progress“. Lets say that your horse is doing well, and you spot the in-play odds are 5/1. You enter your bet, place your money, but in a split second the odds are now 4.9/1 - and your 5/1 limit bet is not actioned. Take the limit off straight away, and cancel the bet, why? If your horse does badly as the race nears its close, its odds will increase and you will be hit at 5/1, with the horse maybe no where near the front. In a split second the odds could be 100/1 to win - i.e. no chance!
5. When betting in-play on horse racing, remember that the “live feed” you are watching on TV may have anything up to a 5 or 10 second delay, and the in-play odds will actually reflect what is happening now. You may see a horse making a move, but by the time you have placed a bet, and the delayed “live” feed has come through, your horse may have fallen or dropped back.
6. Take advantage of each and every introductory offer which you can lay your hands on. The gambling websites are desperate to get your business as this is the next growth area of the industry and they want you to sign up now.
7. Many gamblers use in-play betting to take advantage of shorter odds if their bet is going well, and hedging part of their exposure to ensure they will at least receive their stake money back. If played correctly in the right situation it is possible to end up with a live bet for “free”.
8. You should only ever bet in-play on liquid markets, i.e. popular markets such as football, horse racing ,etc where there is a lot of interest. The less active the in-play “book” the more chance of the odds being out of synch with reality, and you may not receive a true picture of the event.
9. Be wary of events which may run over a number of days, because they can be very difficult to forecast and your money will be tied up - giving you less funding to use for other bets.
10. In-play betting is often fast and furious, but if you do your research it can be a very lucrative type of gambling. It is possible to take advantage of split second mis-pricing, where say a horse may stumble but not fall, and some gamblers decide to call in their bets. By staying calm, focused and on the ball, it is possible to make a decent living with in-play gambling.
In-play gambling is here to stay and it is proving more and more popular with the gambling community, who are always open to new ideas. It make take some getting used to, and you may have your fingers burnt while you are learning, but stick with it as it may offer you an attract alternative to traditional gambling.
