Abi Titmuss Turns To Poker
While actress turned model Abi Titmuss is probably the last person you would expect to see across a Poker table, it appears that Ms Titmuss has taken a strong interest in Poker and will be used to try and tempt more and more ladies into a sport which is losing its male dominance tag. We are seeing more and more ladies only competitions, great prize money and more coverage on TV and the internet than ever before. It seems that Ms Titmuss may well have timed her entry into the industry to perfection!
There is no doubt that woman only tournaments are one of the largest growth areas in an industry which seems to be coming under fire from all areas of the world. As many online Poker companies look to fill the gap left by the US ban, it seems that many believe that single sex games are the way forward. It may surprise many people to learn that there are in fact already large numbers of lady Poker players around the world, with the US still supplying the bulk of the numbers. Mixed tournaments have been ongoing for some time and while some ladies feel comfortable in those situations, some would prefer to play against other ladies. So what next?
While it has not been mentioned as yet, the more ladies only tournaments we see the more chance of a play off between men’s and woman’s champions at some stage–something that would not only attract controversy, but probably large viewing numbers. There is no reason why men and woman cannot play Poker together, and while some male players may have been vocal in the past about their views, what have they got to lose, or what are they scared of?
Ladies Poker continues to grow and the introduction of players like Ms Titmuss can only add to the glamour and attraction of this interesting area of sport.
