Bad Players At Blackjack

Playing with bad players at a blackjack table is the pet hate of many blackjack players, and they happen to exist at all limits of the casino. These players are the type that like to draw when they should stand or stand when they should draw. The problem is worse when the results of their poor decision making causes their own hand to lose. Many blackjack players will constantly complain about how much money they have lost due to the bad play of their tablemates.

An example of this is when sitting on the table with a 16 against a the dealer¡¯s 5, and watching with horror as the anchor draws on his own 14, when standing should be the optimal decision, and busts out with a 10. After this bad decision, the dealer opens a 9 for a 14, and rather than naturally bust out with what should have been a 10 card, proceeds to spike a 7 to score a perfect 21, busting out the whole table and causing a rippling of mumbling and anger from the other players.

So does this mean that every time we play blackjack we have to look for a table with good players instead of just finding the next empty seat? Mathematically, sitting at a table with a bunch of monkeys, smart or dumb, has no affect on whether we will have a winning session or a losing session. The odds do not change. The bad play that makes everybody lose a big hand will definitely stick out at the table, but on the equal side, their bad plays will also win you a few hands that are a call for celebration rather than anger.

Everything equals out in the long run, bad players help as often as they hurt, just play your optimal game and have fun.
