Bankroll Diversification

With your sports betting, casino or poker bankroll one thing that all professionals recommend is to have strong bankroll management. You can only think effectively when there is no emotional attachment so making small bets that are less than 1% of you bankroll allow you to experiment and go for the long shot but good value bets that might pay off over the long run. Separating your working bankroll will allow you to try new things, make some educated mistakes and maintain good bankroll building with safe bets.

  • Trying New Things
  • Maybe there are new multis, exotic bets, games or just gut feelings that you want to try out. Allocate some of your bankroll to trying out and improving on these new types of bets or games that you want to become proficient at. Try different combinations or new strategies and hopefully it will return as positive bankroll contributions. Remember this part of your bankroll is for you to really experiment so no need to hold back on any inhibitions.

  • The Long Shot Bet
  • Allocate some of your bankroll to betting on the real dark horse or underdog of any sport, which you feel might be the day of the year where a new champion wins their first race. Maybe a trainer has spoken confidently of their new horse or a team has spoken very highly of their new driver, or the teenage tennis star walking on to centre court, it is time to pick the long shot to win. Remember, this long shot bet only needs to pay off once in a while for you to maintain a positive revenue in this section of your bankroll.

  • The Sure Bet
  • Sometimes there are bets where the favourites just do not lose. Allocate part of your bankroll for these safe bets to ensure you are still maintaining some positive revenue whenever you make these bets. These bets may not be good value but they are still positive money that allows you to grow your bankroll and allocate funds to other sections of your bankroll.

Allocating the correct distribution of your bankroll to the types of bets that you like is really up to the individual gambler. Try different combinations and see which ones work out the best.
