Casino Fraud Hits An All Time High
As we hear disturbing news that more and more casino scams have been busted over the last 2 years than ever before, it seems that the sophisticated fraudsters are again looking towards the casino industry for their rich pickings. Recent events have seen the smashing of a multi-million dollar fraud ring in San Diego and while it is all good news, what is really going on underneath the surface?
There are growing concerns that while a number of high profile fraud rings have been smashed, is this just the tip of the iceberg or have the authorities really got the fraudsters on the run?
It seems that each and every casino fraud of late has taken on different angles, with sophisticated monitoring devices ever present but more and more we are seeing evidence of employees being bribed to partake in these scams. The figures being touted are growing ever larger and it seems that the threat of decades in prison is proving a minor deterrent when compared to the millions of dollars on offer. So what can the authorities do?
While the authorities are doing their best to keep up with these new and ingenious scams it is proving both difficult and expensive to stay one step ahead. It is also highly unlikely that each and every scam which has been carried out over the last few years has been spotted and stopped, although the casinos are obviously a little reluctant to make public their security measures. In many ways the casino industry has been a victim of its own success with more and more casinos opening up and more fraudsters around the world seeing the massive amounts of money which flow through the industry.
It seems that the constant battle between the authorities and the fraudsters is moving ahead at a quick pace, but quite who will retain the upper hand in the long run is uncertain.
