Deviating From Correct Strategyx

A common trap that many gamblers always fall in to is the actual deviation from playing the correct strategy. Perhaps once or twice a deviation from the actual correct strategy may have come up trumps, but be it that amongst just plain superstition, a hunch, or some painful bad losses, all these attack your mental strength. For weaker players, they start to think that doing the opposite to correct strategy might work for them, whilst others will start to act on superstition and copy what other players might be doing.

Always avoid being distracted by the small picture in whatever game you might be playing. What happened on the last few hands, or last night, whether you won or lost the last few hands, or the disheartening times when another player or dealer happens to crush you with the last card, has no bearing on your chances of winning the next hand. The cards do not have a life of their own and are in animate so the only way to play them is the mathematically optimal strategy.

Deviation happens all the time from less rehearsed players. They question whether something is the correct strategy or not since they may not have won the hand. Every time you see a player start talking about that, they are now playing with their hunches and not with optimal strategy. The casinos absolutely love hunch players and superstitious players and try their best to lure them in to the tables.

It is very easy to succumb to superstition and other bad habits. As humans our eyes play tricks on us, since two cards with two big love hearts on it make them look prettier and our minds tell us that they must play better. Rise above it all and think straight and optimally.
