Fantasy Poker

Poker seems to really have evolved a long way now that we are going online and poker recognised as more like a community and a tournament sport rather than just a past time or card game. Seems like we now recognise poker for more people, the people that play the game and what their quirks are like and especially their chances of winning.

This year’s World Series of Poker sees a number of new sites offering a fantasy poker tipping competition where people who join the competition are invited to create a fantasy team of poker players. Once the team is picked, points are allocated when individual players within the team are placed inside the WSOP events. A win in a particular event may mean 100 points for a player, cashing means 5 points, and a win in the main event of the WSOP will mean 150 points.

The skill to all this? The first important point is to know which players you are picking. They might be pros, they might be amateurs but you still need to know who you are picking in order to maximise your limited opportunities. Many players will have blogs that indicate whether they are going to play, whether they are in Vegas or not and how healthy they are. You will also need to look for all rounder players since many of the WSOP events are not texas holdem, so some players will be able to fare better in the other types of games like stud, razz, Omaha and horse.

There are great prizes on offer, many of them are obviously poker related, but this now adds a new dimension to this ever popular game. Look around for ideas on who to pick and may the best team come out on top!
