Getting To Know Casino Feng Shui

Feng shui is the ancient Chinese belief that seeks to control the good and bad psychic energy that can be released through the arrangements of furniture and other ornaments. The words literally mean wind and water and many casinos actually employ it to attract Chinese customers to their tables. Little things like the use of the number 8 and red carpets will keep many of the Chinese customers interested and happy since these all point to prosperity and good luck.

Lately however, a Taiwanese man who lost $US2 million in Las Vegas is threatening to sue the Venetian for dirty feng shui tactics. The Venetian reportedly went to the Taiwanese man¡¯s room and dug a one- metre square hole in the presidential suite and covered it with black cloth. The casino then put two white towels inform of the man¡¯s suite and turned on two large fans without notifying him.

Such colours of black and white are associated with death for Chinese people. By fanning the bad luck around, it would have reportedly given the Taiwanese man bad luck, who at the time was $400,000 up on the casino. He is now asking for a cancellation of his two million debt to the casino, which the casino has already refunded $100,000 in cash and the same in chips without offering an explanation.

Little things to watch out for when entering a casino include avoiding sharp edges at the entrance as this is the casino trying to ward off evil spirits or bad luck to itself. Try to look for a side door with less sharp edges and more round edges. Also never touch your hair when gambling as that is believed to affect your prosperity and try to where more red to increase your luck.
