How To Teach A Beginner
As an advanced or intermediate poker player, there will always be someone who comes across you path desperate to learn the game. Some poker players feel that they should try their best to lead the new aspiring player astray, where as the more altruistic poker player will remember that it was somebody else that happened to teach them how to play and should really pass it off to somebody else.
With so much advanced play going through the advanced poker player¡¯s mind it is difficult to actually go back to how a beginner should try and learn the game. Here are a few ways of explaining how to take on the game of no limit texas holdem poker.
Only play good cards
Beginner players always make the mistake of playing too many hands. Since they see that all the hands have potential of hitting two pair. But more often than not, it actually will not be hitting two pair. The best way to approach the game is to only play a hand when both the cards are above ten. Preferably suited. That way when they hit the board, they will not have too many kicker problems.
Bet When You Hit
Some beginner players are not aware of how to use their chips properly, best to just bet when they hit and fold when they do not.
Push All In
If you start getting low on chips, just push all in when both the cards are above ten, or when they see a king or an ace. That way they apply maximum pressure and can win by either hitting or everybody folding to them.
Fold To Raises
A bad habit many beginner players have is that they call way too much. Unless they have hit the board or have suited high cards, best to just fold to a raise.
