NBA Playoffs Update

The NBA playoffs are getting very interesting with an intense contest between the Orlando Magic and Boston Celtics. The Magic looked like they had snared game five with a strong 10 point lead going into the last five minutes of play, but the defending champions Celtics managed to scrape through and snare the win 92-88. The star of the game for the Celtics had to be Glen Davis, with his game high 22 points. Last year’s playoff star, Paul Pierce, managed 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. For the magic, their points came from Rashard Lewis 19 points, Hedo Tukoglu 18 points and Rafer Alston produced 16 points. The Celtics winning game five means that, even if they lose the next game at Orlando, the worst case scenario means they have game seven at home.

The Celtics have proven to be an amazing playoffs team. Every game, there seems to be a new player who shines. Even when some of their best players are down on form for the night, someone else will pitch in with the goods. As long as Glen Davis and Paul Pierce maintain their consistency, the rest of the team just has to support each other. However, the Celtics happen to really turn it on only late in the game, so it is better to bury the game early than to have to produce your best late to save the day.

For the Magic, Dwight Howard really needs to get more involved. When he contributes more, the Magic move forward. The Magic really need to take it all the way to the end of the 4th quarter to ensure the game is secured, and for their players to keep pushing until the end. The Celtics have proven that they can take it from your hands when you relax.

Watch out for an amazing game six before advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals.
