Removing Yourself From The Chase
To even the most disciplined gambler, chasing ones loses has a way of breaking into your psyche and telling you that it will all come back to you in the next bet or two. Maybe it is just in built into the human body that we find the chase back far too alluring to resist, or perhaps it is the pretty lights of the casino which you are looking at that makes it more comfortable gambling rather than taking the walk away. Since it always looks like people are winning around you, chasing your loss with that next big bet might be very alluring, but statistically, there are more people who are going to be losing than winning.
Here are a few strategies to help stop yourself from chasing loses:
Set An Appointment
Give yourself a dinner date or movie date that is a few hours after your session. This way you have a reason to leave. If you are up, then you walk away with your profits, if you are down then you also follow the same suit and look forward to making up for the session another time.
Play With A Disciplined Friend
Find a friend who is much more disciplined than you are, or better yet, somebody who hates gambling to pull you from the tables at a set time or limit. They will be able to drag you out and slap you up before you throw more money in to chase your loses.
Only Use Cash
Apart from taking identification and a nice jacket, take only cash to the casino, leave all the credit cards away from it all. Once the cash is gone, you have nowhere to turn for more money.
Winning gamblers have strict rules about walking away and managing themselves. Make sure you possess this winning skill before you hit the tables.
