Slumps and Hot Streaks
Following any major sporting league will see some teams go on hot streaks and some teams go on major slumps. These are always going to happen and can turn punters into very profitable gamblers if one can actually pick when a slump or streak will occur and when one will stop occurring.
When a team is experiencing a streak, it is important to try and identify what element of the team is making them streak. Is there a player who is going through a rare strong patch of form, or has the team actually been defeating teams that are going through their own slumps or have injuries to key players.
It is then a matter of betting on the streak until something breaks their rhythm like an injury to a key player or suspension, etc. The best time to bet on a team with a streak is when they are still mid ranked on a competition table and are not expected to defeat the top of the table teams.
A slump can occur when a team that is at the top of the table is losing their way. They might have enjoyed a lot of wins and beaten a lot of good teams and suddenly fallen off the rails trying to maintain their strong form, or when their strong form became too routine and the players have lost it mentally. You can usually spot this when they make little mistakes that beginners would not usually make and do not attack or defend with the same vigour.
Spotting this and knowing it will start is again profitable because you can pick teams that are underdogs to defeat the top team with a form slump. Being able to pick this will be very profitable.
Look for teams entering streaks and slumps and take advantage of this!
