Tournament Poker Preparation

Tournament season for poker is around the corner and many players are seeing themselves debut at big live poker tournaments around the world. For many, it will be a first time experience playing a big buyin tournament, whilst for others it may the second or third time. In sports, before a race, athletes utilise different methods to get themselves into the zone and preparing their A game, and this is no different in poker.

Here are some methods in which you can apply for your next big live tournament.

A little alcohol

Many players do not like to drink or be drunk during a game of poker, but for many others a drink before the game does help to calm the nerves. Since a big buy in tournament does mean a lot, and the nerves are on hyper explosion, alcohol can reduce their hyper activity and help concentration.

Enough sleep

Instead of partying all night or soaking in the sights and sounds of the hosting casino, it is a much better idea to get to sleep early without any stress. Save all the partying for cashing in a major tournament or winning a major tournament.

Good diet

Stay away from all fatty foods or processed foods. Plenty of leafy vegetables, or lean meat will improve energy levels and maintain concentration levels. Fatty foods will decrease blood circulation and make a body tired, so for long blind tournaments, it is best to be patient and healthy, rather than tired and agitated.

Exercise

Some light exercise a few days before a tournament will give your energy levels a boost and ensure you are alert. Try walking a set distance everyday, playing a game of tennis or hitting the gym for at least half an hour. All this will help your prepare.

Follow these easy guidelines for good preparation to your next big tournament.
