Who Will Take The Premiership In 2008?

While the start of the year saw Manchester United out of the blocks like a rocket, leaving the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal in their wake, Sir Alex Ferguson has not had it all his own way in this years Premiership. However, over the last few weeks we have seen Arsenal peak and fall back, Manchester United regain the top spot but Chelsea are still hanging in their. So who will take the glory? Who will take the plaudits?

While Ferguson has a 5 point lead over Chelsea at the moment the league is far from over with the two teams still to play again this season, although Chelsea will need to maintain their recent form to even stand a chance of taking the glory at the end of the season. Arsenal on the other hand seem to have peaked and while it would be foolish to write them off, they seem to have hit a flat spot over the last few weeks and their form has suffered.

Liverpool have perhaps been the biggest disappointment this season, and while they continue their march onto the Champions League final with a quarter final date with Chelsea, their League form has been nothing short of a disaster. In the eyes of many Liverpool fans it is only victory in the Champions League which can save manager Benitez, with a general dismay at his player rotation system which has back fired badly.

Down at the foot of the table Derby are relegated with Bolton and Fulham in big trouble and starting to run out of games to save themselves, although Birmingham are not out of the woods yet and any team up to Newcastle in 12th place could still be dragged back into the frame. It seems as though we might be in for an exciting finish at both ends of the table, and it would take a brave person to guess the outcome of both battles.
