Working on the parlay
So you are looking at your picks for the weekend. You see that there are two clear favourites that will win their respective weekend matches and look like coming through comfortably. Somehow though, their odds are not exactly all that attractive. The odds might only be 1.60 or maybe 1.30 since there has been an avalanche of money to take advantage what once were great odds and the opposition returns starting to extend out with the bookmakers, the best way to synthetically generate a better return for the dollar is in working the parlay bets or the multi bets. Here are some examples of how to make some good parlay bets that all point the one way and produce better odds.
Picking the winner and half time leader
The team that you think will definitely win happens to have shortened to the hot favourite so best to combine it with another bet to make the returns more attractive. By placing both the winner and the half time leader together, it will then make it a much stronger bet.
Picking the winner and in straight sets
In tennis this bet pulls together who the winner will be and also in the type of fashion. If the player you have your money on is, again, an overwhelming favourite, best to combine it with the type of victory that is likely out of the player to make the bet more attractive.
Betting on the playoff match and overall winner
If it is a tournament style championship or late in the season, combining the one off match with the team or player being the overall winner will provide much stronger odds. It will be easier to pick the winner if it is the semi final stage of a tournament, but the earlier in the tournament you place your bet on the favourite, the better the odds you will have.
