I haven't seen a machine recently that has not had a tilt alarm on it. Are the machines really that easy to shake money out of that they need an alarm?

I do not think that it's so much that it's easy to shake money out of them. I think that it's more of an issue that they want to people to spot trouble makers in the casino. I could be wrong though.

The problem comes when the catch trays are overly full-yes there may be the possibility of knocking coins loose in this situation. And so the alarms are there to try and deter one from doing that.

It's not easy to shake coins out of them in general, there are certain circumstances such as when the machine has taken in a lot that can allow the odd coin to slip out if the machine is shaken. It's important to make sure to catch anyone that may be trying to cheat though as if they're trying to cheat at a slot machine they could try and cheat as a higher stakes game such a Blackjack or Poker also.

I think in all honesty that the alarms make more sense for small businesses that have the machines installed. They are the ones who are most likely to quickly pick up on someone shaking a machine, and the ones with the most (relatively speaking) to lose.
