Have you and a friend ever decided to teach each other games that you are good at? Did it work out, or did you feel like it just increased the competition you would face?

Yes, I have swapped time with friends. It makes sense as long as you don't regularly play against that person for cash-and I don't.

I've taught friends before. We normally only go over the basics of the game in a manner which won't give away tells or personal strategies so its fair for both parties.

Yes that's a good point. There is no need to give away anything would almost proprietary. I would think that the really personal stuff would be too important.
