I am from Indiana and for the last several seasons I have been ashamed that the Pacers are located in Indiana. It seemed like every day another player was involved in some type of illegal activity from drugs to shootings. This season the team is doing a lot of promoting to try to change the team image. Personally, I would like them to adopt a "no tolerance" clause like Tony Dungy and the Colts. I really hope the team can succeed because I enjoy basketball but I refuse to support players who are bad examples for my children.

What I'm mainly referring to is the ungodly amount of money that the pros get to play. We see rookies signing for millions of dollars. I just don't see how they can bet on an unproven player like that. I think they should have a minimum first year salary and that by entering the draft there should be an agreement where the player agrees to sign on for the minimum. Let all of the big money be performance based.

Is Allowing pros in the Olympics Sporting?

It was passed some time ago to allow pro athletes in the Olympic games although it was not always so. Do you think this is fair to the non pro athletes who may be really good but not good enough to get in the few coveted spots since the pros undoubtedly displace some of the spots?

I am just loving this year's Olympics!! My favorite is the swimming, simply because Phelps is doing such a fabulous job! Watching him last night it was just amazing! I seriously wonder how he could be so much better than every other swimmer? Is he half fish? And did you see the relay race when they blew away the competition and beat the world record by 5 seconds!! WOW!!

What has been your favorite moment in the Olympics so far? I personally loved seeing the US men's swim team beat out France in the last few seconds after "assuring themselves a silver" as the commentator said. The looks on the swimmer's faces were priceless too!

China has now banned Gold Medalist Joey Cheek from attending the games. He is an outspoke Darfur activist and China support Darfur's actions, so I suppose this is the reason. I read someplace that people who want to protest have to apply for a permit 5 days ahead, I wonder if he applied for one and they said a big fat NO in every way possible. What do you think of this? Will the Olympic committee be regretting their decision to have the Olympics in China?

I think that the decision to stagger the summer and winter games so that we can watch Olympic level competition every two years was a smart decision. One thing I don't like or agree with is allowing professional athletes to play in the Olympics. They should go back to allowing amateurs to participate and leave the spoiled professionals sitting at home watching like the rest of us.

He has two amazing running prosthetics and eventually gained the right to compete along the able bodied athletes in the Olympics but he has to qualify first and the time is quite a bit faster than his best recorded time. I think it would be sad to be given the opportunity to miss out because he wasn't fast enough.

I have two people I know going to do something wild and crazy this year sports wise. One friend flew to Vienna for the Euro championship games, but one the one that really bugs me is my closest cousin and dear friend is going to see NYC and has tickets for the game coming up.

:( I wish I had her days off to join her, she even had a ticket right up until me posting this. Work is evil AND today really bites finding this out, she should have just not told me. :D
