It gave me my only interest in whatever event it was we were betting on. Honestly at the time I didn't care either way whether there were gee gees on the telly, but if there was money involve you bet I did!

So it was the one way we got the whole family involved in these events.

RE: Penny Bets

Oh my, yes, it does bring back memories, but then again I can remember when a handful of pennies could buy a great deal! I think I'm a bit older than most of you here! :D I used to play penny poker with my girlfriends in high school, when no one was looking because our parents would have surely disapproved!

RE: Penny Bets

Yea it sure brings back memories from childhood. I think it actually brought us closer together. Dad would not allow us to argue and fight the winner was the winner so we learned to lose and hide it real well.

RE: Penny Bets

We used to do penny bets with my dad when we were kids too. Actually, he did this alot with on when we'd compete against each other. We always thought it was a lot of fun, though it probably contributed to us fighting like cats and dogs!

RE: Penny Bets

The lowest I've bet was 50 cents, I think. I'm afraid nowadays no one would care to have penny bets, as they don't really amount to anything! I kind of miss those days when you could buy so many things with just a few pennies.

Penny Bets

You know, this is how I got into betting in the first place. Every summer, come time for the national, we would make and place penny bets through our father. I am sure there is something illegal there as we were just kids, but it was a nice way for us to make a few extra pennies.

I always did pretty well, even though I chose my bets by name :D
