Its so much more serious than the poker nights with my buddies where we talk about all sorts of things and take things pretty easy. You can learn alot by watching the pros too.

RE: World Series of Poker

I'll watch it but have never played, not that I don't want to. It's just too far away. I don't think "I have to go play poker" is a viable excuse for work.

RE: World Series of Poker

I enjoy watching the big events in poker. I have occasionally learned a new strategy or picked up on a twist on an old strategy that I hadn't thought of. Mostly I just enjoy watching to see who comes out on top.

RE: World Series of Poker

I like to watch the pros play and see what types of strategies they use. It is also interesting to me to see how often bluffs work, and to know that there is no sure thing! It is always surpring to see the "sure win" get beat by a lucky draw of the cards.

RE: World Series of Poker

I remember watching one year at college. We hosted a casino week and watched and played ourselves in a mock tournament. It was rather fun to watch "pros" play and try to play ourselves. Its worth a watch even if you don't learn anything I think.

RE: World Series of Poker

Not only do I follow it, I have played in it the last 2 years. I cashed in event 4 in 2006 and event 6 in 2007, both for Limit Holdem. As far as learning things to improve your game, I really dont learn a lot about how to improve my game from watching the NL Holdem events, or even the Main Event. However, in mixed games, such as stud or Omaha and event Horse, sometimes you can pick up some things.

World Series of Poker

http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/

6 days away.

Do you follow it? Will you be watching any of it?

Is it an event you can learn something from for your own game? Or is it just for the fun of watching them play...and for millions of dollars no less?
