I have done this before but more with non-gamble type games. I am the one that plays first person shooter games and is the one character that runs in and yells charge before everyone else in my group. I try to avoid doing this when there is money on the table.

Since I mostly play for fun anyway, I am not too worried about that. I play for fun, and that means that if blowing it all by throwing caution to the wind is what brings me the most fun, then I will do it. No point gaming if I am miserable about it, or always scared.

I usually avoid that type of exhilaration. It usually means I'm going to get burned and have no one to blame but myself. Even if I manage to by some miracle break even I feel bummed out afterwards.

Yes, and I think that's what it was for me-a one off but hugely exhilarating night! The feeling was fantastic when the cards kept coming in-for a time :D

Every time that I threw caution to the wind in blackjack, I would end up paying the price. You always need to have some degree of caution, if only to keep yourself from being burned. There's a difference between taking risks and risking everything. You need to know your limits, and find some sort of safety zone.

I've had the odd night that I chose just not to care, not to play "by the book". It was exhilerating. I don't often do that though. I still want to win and logic usually takes over again.

All though the odds remain the same game after game there are nights that the cards seem to be in your favor. On those nights I have seen people play on a everything up to a 19. In most cases they loose but in some lady LUCK stays with them. And I agree in most cases alcohol is heavily involved.

Blackjack is the most even game by odds that you will play so I wouldn't mess around to much with screwing the odds up.

Heh, I agree that it is most likely to involve alcohol. One of the down sides of playing from home, online, is that I fairly often have a beer in hand and just don't care.

Not if I'm playing with real money! I wouldn't call hitting on 17 throwing caution to the wind, I'd call it asinine! Unless you are counting cards and the odds are in your favor.

The only times I have seen that done much alcohol was involved and only betting with closes friends and/or family. I don't think I have seen others do it much.

Do you ever have a night when you feel that luck is so on your side that you throw caution to the wind? That you are willing to hit on, say 17 or higher on the chance of getting what you want because the cards are going your way.

How did it work out for you?
