I will have to take these strategies to heart. Blackjack is a game I seem to almost always lose at. Perhaps I really need to change the way I play! Thanks for the tips!

These are some really good tips and strategy. I don't play it much but when I do I rarely hit over 13 because it seems that I always get a 10. I usually double down on a 10 or eleven to start and very rarely do I split 10s. I see so many people split 10s when they are sitting on 20!

Another good rule to follow, always split Aces and eights. Aces becuase then you have a good chance of getting 21, and 8's because 16 is a terrible hand and you can almost always improve on it.

Here's another tip: don't split on anything less than double 8s. I saw someone split on double 4s once, and I just shook my head ... :hehe:

Here are some basic rules to abide by when playing BlackJack and the best advice I can give you is to learn them and just do them! Statistically they should produce a winning outcome.

* If your first two cards are equal to eleven or less you always draw another card.
* No matter what card the Dealer is showing you must always assume that the dealer has a ten hidden.
* If your cards total 12 to 16, "the danger zone', whether you draw or stand depends on what the dealer is showing.
* If the dealer has a card showing between 7 to an Ace you should draw until you are over 16.
* If the dealer has a card showing between 2 to 6 you should not draw another card. Note: There is one exception to the rule above. If you have 12 and the dealer is showing a 2 or 3 you should draw one more card only.
* If you have cards valued between 17 to 20 you should never draw another card. The only time you should draw another card under the above circimstances is when you have a soft 17 or 18. Note: A soft 17 or 18 occurs when your hand contains an Ace (which is valued at 1 or 11) and a 6 or 7.
* When the player has a soft 17 or 18 it is a good idea to draw if the dealer is showing any card from a 9 to an Ace.
Insurance is often not recommended, since you are betting that the dealer will receive a BlackJack (21). You are playing to beat the dealer not bet that he will beat you.

I think that these rules are simple enough that anyone should be able to pick up on them. I can see that mathematically they will improve the odds for you, perhaps to the point that you stand a shot at a win or three.

I'm going to use them at my game later tonight, getting together with a bunch of freinds and going to see just how much cash I can get it.

It will be all in good fun though, no one will be taking home more than 500 or so, lol

Those are all good tips but I see many people still hit on 16 as its more of an iffy number to have. Are there anytimes when you should hit?

I completely agree that you should listen to your gut at times. There are still many, many variables when it comes to the draw from the deck, and the rules above only help to minimise your risks.

But, nevertheless, I think that you should also follow your intuition at times. Your sixth sense can be useful more often than many think ;)

This is actually pretty simple, you just need to memorize a few things.

1. If your hand is 17 or higher, you stay no matter what the dealers up card is.

2. if your hand is 16, stay if the dealers up card is 6 or less, and hit on 7 or 8. you give up after that

3. If your hand is 15, stay if the dealers up card is 6 or less, and hit if the dealers up card is 7, 8 9 or ace. give up on 10
