When they see you hanging around for too long in the same day and consistently winning, they begin to suspect that something may be up. Take your earnings, and leave the casino for a few days to a week. Visit other casinos in the mean-time.

RE: Ejected For Card Counting

I don't think anyone argued that it was illegal, simply that it is against the rules of the majority (if not all) casinos. It's nothing to do with laws but with the fact that it messes up the house odds and takes away from their earnings and so they do not like that. But yes the real skill comes in not getting caught.

RE: Ejected For Card Counting

As the man said, card counting is not illegal. The problem comes from people that think they can count cards. They get confused and look around for the one bright light that will tell them what to do.

Card counting takes an immense amount of intensity internally and an outward appearance of being oblivious to what is going on. A good card counter must be exceptional in math and have relatively high IQ. Add to that the fact that they must loose on occasion and never win big at any one casino.

The house runs on a 5% win which means that 95% of the monies bet are won by the patrons. Stay within the limits and you won't have a problem. Also only do it a couple of times per year in any area, casinos talk with one another. If you win a fair amount each month at every casino you will get a reputation that will follow you to the major areas around the country.

RE: Ejected For Card Counting

Card counting is not illegal or immoral. If you cannot do it, don't play blackjack. If a casino realises you are counting and are succeccful they will not let you play and will circulate your identity to all other casionos. Disguises cannot fool their face recognition equipment.

Croupiers can be trained to card count.. so they shuffle if they see a bias. Obviously you cannot card count against a computer, so there is no point in playing blackjack online.

RE: Ejected For Card Counting

It is commendable that she doesn't use it to her advantage. I think that few who are real pros at it would be that restrained.

There are world renowned card counters who are banned from the big casinos, world wide. I have no idea if they are able to go to smaller ones but I was watching a profile of one on TV one day and they can't set foot in most casinos.

RE: Ejected For Card Counting

Card counting well is a matter or appearing like everyone else as mentioned. No creased or furrowed brow as you do mental gymnastics, no sweaty palm when it seems and easy hand, and no back to back to back wins without losses. I do have a friend who is a wondful card counter and has worked hard to make it less obvious. She doesn't ever play for real money though. Casino workers are trained to spot the oddities though so if you win too much compared to the house odds they are going to watch you and figure out what is causing your winning.

RE: Ejected For Card Counting

No one will ever truly know whether you are doing it or not, or whether you simply are having a lot of luck that day. But if you are showing up winning a lot more than the odds would suggest, then you will get watched. You know it's obvious, but the thing is, if they come and get you, how do they know you're actually counting cards at all?

RE: Ejected For Card Counting

A friend of mine only counts the 10's, face cards and aces but, if the shoe has 6 or 7 decks it is to hard to keep track don't you think? There are people who could memorise the order of four decks of card without trying, without concentration.

Beyond that, I don't think you could really be successful at this.

RE: Ejected For Card Counting

Well, card counting is suppose to increase your chances, but I'm not certain if it's going to give you extraordinary results. It must take a lot of concentration, and I've read, casino's are allowed to ban players with or without cause. So you better be careful!

Moreover, some casinos try to reduce card counting by switching from a single deck to multiple decks, which makes it even more difficult.

RE: Ejected For Card Counting

Body language can, in time be trained to say what you want it to say. I think that you should keep a good eye on this and make sure that you are busy having fun rather than increasing your odds.

I once read that you should not win in a row but rather win big, and loose small. Then no one can accuse you of anything!

RE: Ejected For Card Counting

Well It's not to hard to figure out the general rules involved. If you are not known, then you could get away with it. The trick is to avoid getting any attention, going table to table or better yet, casino to casino is your best bet.

The House does NOT lose. This isn't a saying, it really is the rule.

If you come close to breaking it, they'll find you and send you on your way. The pigs get fat: The hogs get slaughtered. Learn to do it well in your head. Make a modest chunk of change and go home. If you're in a casino town like Reno or Las Vegas instead of going home go down the street to the next casino and do the same thing. If you get too greedy they'll get onto you.

RE: Ejected For Card Counting

How they would know I guess would be by watching you. They would see that you take in each and every card that is put down, and if you are not very good at it perhaps you would hesitate before making your own decisions whilst you figured out what was running through the deck at the time.

It has not happened to me personally.

RE: Ejected For Card Counting

I have wondered the same thing, how easy it can be to get spotted (not that I have done it or anything like that). I am guessing that once you start winning so much, people will get suspicious. That would require you to be doing it right though.

RE: Ejected For Card Counting

Well that depends on how good you are at it really. In the end card counting is against the rule because gambling is supposed to be about luck. If you have a winning streak of some kind people tend to keep a close eye on you.

Ejected For Card Counting

How easy is it to be spotted card counting?
