We all know how bad the economy is right now, and that there is a risk in almost any business failing. What about if your bookie, or online casino collapses? I have read lots of stories about people losing out a great deal-are you worried?

That you or someone else you know has ever taken? I remember in college we once had someone lose a bet and he had to spend a week outside of classes in a chicken costume, thats about the oddest thing I have seen though.

ATMs near gambling venues

Are ATMs near gambling venues banned in your area? At a lot of the places I visit, there's not an ATM to be seen anywhere near a pokie venue. This is, of course, supposed to deter problem gamblers from having easy access to their money. Has this proven to work where you live?

If you were to add up all the money you have actually spent since you started gambling for money, how much would you guesstimate you have lost? To put that number in prespective, how many years, months, weeks have you actually been gambling? This amount can include live and/or online games.

If You Die

Consequences of Illegal Gambling

Most pubs in the UK have signs up saying that betting on their premises is not allowed, that its illegal. Is it illegal just because they would need a license for it?

There was a pub I used to work in that held many games, legal or not, despite the signs. They were all after hours, and I just wondered what the consequences would be if found out.

School is starting up again and so is the family education betting pool. We have several members of the family who are in higher education (18 years old or more) and so we take bets on grades likely to be achieved at the end of term. Anyone else do this?

So, do any of you have any interesting or bizarre stories about your first time playing in a casino, or gambling, when you personally experienced the phenomenon known as beginner's luck? If so, share it with us! My own experience was when I placed all of my bets on the one number in my first game ever of roulette, and I won! I didn't bet a lot of money though, but if I had I would have made quite a bit.

Are non-casino online games gambling?

I really love to play many kinds of online games, such as Bejeweled and other skill/luck games that are online. Usually I play them for free, but sometimes I pay to play and you can win money if you are the one who gets the high score over others. Is this legally considered gambling? I never really thought about it, but I am worried about the whole "crossing state line" thing if it is.

Dog Racing

We used to watch the dogs race about 5 times a year when we lived in Texas. I could not believe how many people would literally run to the betting windows whenever they were walking the dogs out and they stopped to "do their business". A couple of times the dog won but usually it was one of the favorites in the race. What are your betting habits for dog racing?

What do you think of the naysayers who claim that gambling is a bad thing for society? They talk a good argument, including "statistics" such as the number of people addicted to gambling, an increase in debt and crime in areas near casinos, that it makes the poor even poorer, etc. What do you think about these arguments?

In the UK you find a fair few churches that have been turned over to over functions. The most bizarre of those that I have seen are churches that are now pubs or night clubs.

Alot of gaming establishments are closed after being caught, although it can take years for the guilty parties to pay up the fines of jail time and legal fees. Some people think it would be easier just to allow gambling in all states/countries instead of wasting time prosecuting the laws. What do you think?

A maths teacher in Australia recently took his class to the races, horse racing, and gave them fake money to bet. All this, the teacher says, to teach them the rudiments of probability and risks. I think this is going a bit far and the exercise may have taught the kids more than math.

I posted a couple of weeks ago about a small win I had in the Daily Numbers game here. It was way less than usual due to MA adding a second draw to the daily at noontime. This really took the shine off playing the daily for me and I haven't played as much as usual due to the lower prizes. I've talked to a few people who feel the same so why do states change things like that? Do they think they will make more money that way?
