I was reading on the gambling news tab that William Hill's "Vegas" site has had a big winner on the "Pharoah's Treasure" slot machine. It seems this site has paid off several big winners recently and not just on "Pharoah's Treasure". Has anyone ever visited this site and played Pharoah's Treasure?

I remember playing some of the older machines that you would get into a rhythm when you were putting in coins and pulling. Back then many casinos would require that the handle be pulled and not move to show that it isn't someone trying to pull a fast one. Because of this I lost out on a $180 jackpot once. I was feeding quarters and usually had the next coin in before the wheels stopped. Well I won and got all excited and the person came up and pulled the handle and poof. No jackpot! I complained but it didn't do any good.

I won a free round trip vacation (most expenses paid) to Las Vegas next year and have been trying to study up on the games and strategies. How many types of slots are there? I know there is the traditional three picture one line, multiple lines, and bingo like slots. Am I missing any?

I mean I like the idea of slots and all but I could just never do only that game. Do most people who play slots take breaks to play others or is it fully just slots and that's all? I think I would need a real nice comfy stool to sit on. :D

Have you ever noticed.. that at least once when playing on a twenty, that you'll come back up, over what you put in at least once before you start to lose it all?

One day a friend and I decided to try something.

We went to a strip casino in Las Vegas and went to the quarter slots armed with ten twentys each. We put our money in a machine and as soon as we went over $20.00 pulled it all out and went to the next machine.

when we met up an hour later we both had made a profit..DESPITE having lost at least one twenty each without ever going up.

Number seven has been considered a lucky number for a long time-but why? Sevens come up on a slot machine-so was it slots that started this, or did slot makers just pick up on the urban myth?

The casino I go to just got new machines. I don't know how I feel about this. I was use to going to one section to find the machine I understood and played that. Now I have to learn all over again.

I've always wondered the attraction to the multi-line payout machines. While I think they do increase your odds of winning to a point you also have to pay more to play them. I much prefer the single line slots over the multi-line ones. It is much easier to play and figure out and you aren't throwing money away as fast as you would on the others. Does anyone prefer to play the multi-line slots?

I flew through the Vegas airport last week and had a bit of a layover so thought I'd drop a few coins. Only problem is that I didn't see any machines that took coins. The sounds of the falling coins is gone for good it seems. I really wish they wouldn't have gone to the tickets.

dollars vs. quarters..

My roomate and I have different philosophies, I like to win BIG. She likes to play forever. Since I get bored quickly and dislike being tricked by a 2300 coin payout that is really only 575.00... I like the dollar slots better. What you see is what you get. It also seems to me that the odds are better.

Has anyone ever gotten a feeling going past a slot like its a bad idea to just play that one machine? I have had this happen with other things in my life and Im not sure if it falls under superstition or not but figure I might as well ask.

I know that when I play if it isn't going well I will play the minimum bet once then go back to the maximum. I will also make it a point to pull the handle instead of always pressing the max bet button each time. This helps me slow down my play a bit. Does anyone else have any little quirks when they play?

I really wish they would outlaw smoking at all casinos especially in the slot areas where people are in such close quarters. I've seen, what I believe are regulars, sitting at a machine and chain smoking while they play. It never fails that if I find a nice area then a smoker will surely appear.

The casino I usually go to is not that big. It has a fair amount of slot machines but when you figure on a busy night there are 1000's of people there it doesn't seem like that many. It really bohters me when I go on nights like this and some people are playing 3 or 4 machines in a row. It seems unfair to me as then there are tons of people walking around looking for an open machine. Does this bother anyone else? Or are you one of the people playing several machines at once?

Slots are annoying because when you play 50 lines and win on 1 of them it creates the false illusion that you are winning but you just keep a net loss. Boo slots! Wager $5 win $1. Thanks a lot.

This is one game where you can basically just sit in front of the machine forever as long as you have some cash. But on average, how long do you play slots, and when exactly do you decide to quit? Is it after you win a certain amount of money?

For me, this isn't a game I play for my own enjoyment, so you'd probably only find me playing for a few minutes at a time. I think of slots as a sort of lottery machine, which is basically what it is when it comes down to it. I like to try my luck and play a few rounds but never play for very long.

It is really easy to lose track of time while you are pushing buttons, watching the lights, and listening to that music that sounds like ice cream truck tunes. With no clocks around, remembering to look at the watch is vital, but sometimes even that doesn't help.

I know a lot of the charm for some is the noise the slots make but to me it can be a bit overwhelming with all the other noise going around. It is hard to find a nice quiet place to sit and play without all of the noise. Does anyone know if a casino offers slot rooms so you don't have all of the other racket?

Do you always feel the need to put the maximum amount of coins into a slot machine? I used to do that, but then I figured out how quickly the money goes that way. I remember when I first discovered penny slots. I was thrilled, thinking I could actually go to the casino pretty often. Then I noticed the max bet on one of the penny slots was over a dollar. Not such a bargain afterall. Now I just try to put in enough to assure me that any winning line is going to pay me something, just not the top prize. But if I happen to hit... I'll go for max a few times. :)

When Slots Break Down

I tend to play mainly in pubs, and they are still the coin operated machines, not the credit card ones or anything like that. Last night the machine broke down and ate my money without giving me my plays.

Of course the barman wouldn't believe me. Is there any way to prove that you paid but didn't play? Or is this just a risk you take?

Placement of slot machines

I never really thought about the placement of slot machines before, but this morning I was reading something in the newspaper that briefly mentioned it. I kind of thought back to a couple of times I've played slots, and it makes me think. The highest paying slot machines are always placed in lower traffic areas of the casino. Are there any other tricks that casinos use in the placement of slot machines to keep us on our toes?
