First, dont go around flaunting loads of money all the time, especially around the sports books, poker room, table games etc. Next, if your going to be going to one specific casino and that is the only place your going to play, then talk to the main cage about putting money on deposit with them and using markers to draw them off.

In most casinos, you can deposit money into an account and then go by the cage and request a marker to be taken off your account. I did this the last 2 years, one time at the Orleans and one time at the Rio for the World Series of Poker. All I had was 10k in cash for tournaments, but as long as your willing to go through the hoops, they will work with you.

If you are still worried about taking loads of cash around, convert your money to chips at the cage. If you have a few chips in your pocket, thats a lot easier and less conspicous than taking a lot of cash around.

Also, if you are worried about being followed in a casino etc, then get a security escort. That is part of their job. I have had to use security on a couple of different occasions due to different problems. If your playing, just ask a poker host or a dealer to contact security and they can get one REALLY quick. Dont believe me. Have someone working there call Security and see how quickly someone shows up. Two years ago at the Rio I went to get my car from Valet and realized too late that it was a satellite vallet and I had to go all the way across the casino...and I had 5k in my pocket at the time. A security guy driving a truck was driving around, and I waved him down. He gave me a ride to the other security place no problem. Thats their job. The casinos want you safe so that you can come back and give them money. Take advantage of it.

RE: Personal safety

They really must have things in order, or else casino crime would be all over the news, every day. Instead I had never heard of anything, and that's even with reading worldwide and local news daily. I am not too worried. Common sense will help with many things.

RE: Personal safety

[quote]The security in those places must be intense though...I don't hear on the news any problems. I never really thought much of this before as I'm usually along with friends and staying at a nearby hotel at least. I imagine that one should just take the usual precautions and avoid secluded areas.

RE: Personal safety

The problem is that I couldn't tell my fellow gambler from someone who walked in off the street to try and rob or mug people. Even at the store there is the expectation that you are carrying money, and for that reason caution is needed.

So I keep the cash close to my body, in none accessible pockets and so on.

RE: Personal safety

If I will to visit any Casinos, I will not bring along with big amounts of money.
