Four hours is a long drive. There are 3 casinos within an hours drive of my quiet little town. Two of them are on indian reservations. I do suppose they increase crime, but they are all very well staffed with security and I've never witnessed any criminal activity. I feel rather safe when I'm there. I'm still glad they aren't next door to my home.
rawrmoo42 (3/14/2008)
No where in my town is anything more than maybe a bar machine if that. When we lived downstate, it used to take 2 1/2 hours to get to the same one. There was something different about it when it took longer to get there. I guess it was the planning of the trip and the anticipation of going that made the difference. Once we moved and the fascination wore off, it doesn't seem as exciting as it once was. I still like going, it's just a little different.

RE: In Your Town?

No, the nearest is some distance away-probably an hour drive. It's ok like that-the city that has it is set up for it. They have the traffic system in place, and there are other facilities around that serve it well. We just couldn't support that.

RE: In Your Town?

We have several within less than an hour's drive. We probably go to one about once a month or so with friends. There is one right next to our Ikea, and we like to make a day of it. :-)

RE: In Your Town?

Although we have no casinos in my town exactly, we do have quite a few which are under an hour in driving distance which is good enough for me! And besides...it would be kind of noisy to have a bunch of casinos in a small town like mine :D

RE: In Your Town?

No where in my town is anything more than maybe a bar machine if that. Like you say there would be the pluses of having increased revenue, but the extra traffic, parking problems, and potential increase in crime must be a nightmare.

RE: In Your Town?

No casino in my town either of which I am rather glad. I imagine there must be some stress on the local community surrounding such places, even with the bonus of more revenue and commerce. Thins such as traffic, tour buses and crime might not make me a happy neighbor.

RE: In Your Town?

There isn't a casino in our town but there is one in the neighboring city, which is only about a half hour to one hour drive depending on how fast we drive

RE: In Your Town?

There aren't any in my town, but there are several within an hours drive from here. Frankly, I don't really care, never been to most of them. When I go to gamble, I want to go somewhere nice, like the ones we have a couple hours drive from here, out on the coast. I don't want to go to a crappy suburb casino.

RE: In Your Town?

We don't have a casino in our town. But we have one from a nearby town. It is just okay for me to have one in town so that I don't have to travel in order to go to a casino.

RE: In Your Town?

Yes there is one in my town and I like that fact.
