I don't miss the cash slots at all! I hate all the gunk on my hands, and what I really hate is when I put $20 in a nickel machine and decide quickly that I don't want to play anymore. Than I have to cash out $19 in nickels and that is a lot of nickels!

I hadn't thought about the drawbacks of the new system honestly but the technical side of it-as you said, the risk of running out of ink is a bit of a nightmare. I would also imagine that this would ultimately cut down on the work force required too which would be a downside for the staff and local economy.

My wife is kind of a clean freak. She always used surgical gloves so her hands wouldn't get dirty...lol. We went to the casino for the first time in about a year, I usually play poker and she plays the slots. She was pretty mad when a paper token came out that couldn't be read by any other machine because the machine was running out of ink or whatever they use to print them. Since they cut down on money usage, there aren't as many tellers. They have those change machines. She had to stand in line for almost a half hour for $23.00.

I was in Vegas two weeks ago and played slots in 3 different casinos. None of them were coin/token slots any more. I really do miss being able to feed the machines with something other than a piece of paper (cash or receipt). I was really disappointed.

Yeah I miss the cash slots too. I can remember the expression on my wifes face the night she had to carry 500 dollars from the machine in buckets. Paper just isn't the same. The excitement just isn't there.

I'm not really sure what its saving them, it still means that paper cost money and more than likely is not being recycled so I think its really a waste .

I'd prefer to have cash pouring out of the machines. My wife really feels strongly against the slips of paper.

For some people, it was kind of a ritual, unwrapping rolls of coins and putting them in buckets, etc.

I am in complete agreement. I can't imagine playing the one-armed bandits without the coins/tokens. I bet beside a money saving method for the casinos it is also a bit better for the customer as it would be harder to get a receipt than a bucket of coins.

Part of the appeal to me has always been the sound of the slots and that includes the coins.

I've never been much of a slots player anyway but my interest went down even further with the switch. It's just not the same without the "ka-ching" of the money pouring down.

I was sad to see them go too. It just isn't the same having these new slots. The old cash ones felt real, almost euphoric when you won. The new ones don't give out that feeling.

I won't play slots if they aren't cash payouts. If I wanted a slip of paper or tokens/points I would play online and not take the time to go to a real casino. I'm sure it saves money but they make more than enough on slots to let us use real money to play and for payouts up to a certain amount.

Spam aside, yes I miss that too. There are still a good number of places around here that have cash slots, but slowly they are going the way of paper or tokens of some kind. I don't like it; I think it's too much of a ploy to get you to not take your money out of the casino again because it makes you take that extra step to get it.

The casino near us converted most of their slots to the paper receipts. I really miss the noise the money made when hitting the trays. I know they have saved a ton of money by converting over, but it feels like something is missing. Does anyone else feel the same way?
