Even when I am looking to buy a car the sales man wants you sign right away, but I take a few days to make sure this is what I want. they will try that "It may not be here when your ready" thing but trust me usually it is and if not oh well.

RE: Beware the Time Share Trap

I have yet to see any real legit timeshare and those that say they are I have to take and just think are they insane? Any time I go on vacation I am approached by the time share sellers.

RE: Beware the Time Share Trap

So true. I have been to several timeshare presentations where they want you to feel obligated to buy something after they have fed you. I have yet to sign up for one but had enjoyed eating the food!!!

RE: Beware the Time Share Trap

I was nearly lured into some time-share deal in West Virginia a decade or so back, and casinos did not even factor into the equation! The house was beautiful, the scenery was great, the pricing did not even seem all that bad. For some reason or another, we ended up not going through with it after all. Thinking back, I guess that was the smart decision.

RE: Beware the Time Share Trap

It really stinks that you got sucked into this. Hopefully you have been able to use it or trade it in for another location. I have gone to a couple and I tell them up front that unless they give it to me free and clear, I'm not buying!

L2P
RE: Beware the Time Share Trap

I love those types of things. I get a free meal, or a CD player, or something else of equal value, and I only have to say no a few times. It doesn't just happen in casinos though. They're everywhere.

RE: Beware the Time Share Trap

I guess I'm naturally suspicious and haven't walking into anything like that. I will also hold my ground on the sales pitch. I don't put my money up without planning first.

RE: Beware the Time Share Trap

M friend uses these presentations as an opportunity to gve a nice weekend getaway for himslf and family. He has even invited me to go with them one weekend, but I haven't made it yet. Yes, a trap it is - but you shouldn't let it catch you if you know beforehand.

RE: Beware the Time Share Trap

This definitely falls under there is no such thing as a free lunch. Several times they have tried to lure me in and each time I said no thank you and kept walking. The one time where the person was persistent I asked them if the show included comps to a first class room, unlimited gambling, etc. For some reason this time they walked away!

Smitty
RE: Beware the Time Share Trap

Exactly. You just have to go in there knowing what to expect. People get blind sided, and they feel like they have to buy something. Hey, don't feel bad: the are the ones who offered the tickets in the first place...

RE: Beware the Time Share Trap

Well you know, I've been to more than a few presentations. I go, have a nice meal, mingle, make some friends even, take the tickets and have a nice show. No one can force you to buy what they are selling.

RE: Beware the Time Share Trap

Nope. Ever since I was growing up in the eighties people have made jokes about time share "presentations" in return for a ski weekend or tickets to a show at the casino. If I wanted a timeshare they'd know it. I don't though. I mean look at all the timeshare re-selling companies.

Beware the Time Share Trap

We went to Vegas about 6 years ago and were having a great time. Someone come up and asked us if we wanted to look at a condo for tickets to a show. We figured why not as we weren't planning on getting show tickets. What a mistake. Next thing I know I'm in a room with other schmucks signing my life away. It was all so fast and so slick that I remember few of the details.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Chris
