It is certainly a big improvement over the other tribal casinos in this area. Its almost on the scale of Vegas. There are plans to build a few more in the vicinity. I wonder if we will be getting a mini-Vegas here soon?

RE: Tribal Casinos?

The only one I've been to that is Tribal run is Foxwoods and it was very nice. As a poster above said, it's not low-budget by any means. I've never been to Vegas, so I don't have that to compare, but I enjoyed it.

RE: Tribal Casinos?

I don't see the difference, personally. A casino is a casino no matter who is running it. Its not like I am there to see them, I am there to play the games.

RE: Tribal Casinos?

I enjoy going to our local tribal casino, the people who run it are so warm and friendly. Wow, Mickey I should check out that casino, it sounds great!

RE: Tribal Casinos?

We just got a new casino in Oklahoma/Kansas (same area that SamIAm refered to). It just opened over the weekend. It is getting much closer to Vegas-style casinos. Hopefully it is the beginning of a new trend in the area! It is called Downstream Casino and it is run by the Quapaw tribe. Hotel is not open yet, but the casino is nice and it will be a full resort, complete with gold and spa.

RE: Tribal Casinos?

The thing I learned to watch out for with Tribal casinos is the payout %'s are lower the further you get from the competition. Some friends of mine haunted the casinos in the Palm springs area and did fine but they were spending thousands of dollars to get those winnings. THere is a casino north of me called CHumash that does well by its blackjack players but in the 4 trips I took there I only hit once big on the slots with over $800.00 spent.

RE: Tribal Casinos?

Both of the ones closest to me (Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun) are tribal run casinos and they are definitely not low budget operations. With MGM Grand becoming involved with Foxwoods, it's definitely developed a glitzier image lately.

RE: Tribal Casinos?

It's definitely a different feeling than Vegas, not as glitzy and glamourous, nor as busy feeling. I think they are great, but it may just be the area. I have only been to them in Washington State and Idaho.

RE: Tribal Casinos?

I've been to a few. They are alright. I much prefer Vegas casinos though! Many of the tribal ones seem to be a bit low-budget.

Tribal Casinos?

Here in the Kansas and Oklahoma region, most of the casinos are located on reservations and are tribal-run. What are your thoughts about these type of casinos?
