More so than when it began. Because when it began we wore no pads and the helmets were leather. You hear the announcers say it every once in a while.." take away the helmets and you'll see the game slow down." Dangerous, yes But to me "violence" involves intenional harm to another person, not just pushing that person out of the way because the rules say you can. A violent game would be a sword fight to the death! When I was a kid a well known cyclist in Canada was hit by a dump truck. Left him a life long quadaplegic. Does that make cycling a violent sport? Just this month a guy had his neck slashed accidentally and required a 5 pint transfusion. You never see stuff like that in the football games.
