My dad and his brothers would play whenever the family was getting together. When dad decided we could try our hand at it, first he bought a board with the velcro darts. Then he moved the board with the real darts to a tree outside until he was fairly sure we wouldn't ruim mom's walls.

RE: Anyone for darts?

I've played on teams too in the past. Didn't hurt my shoulder or anything like you, but I had one fall out of a hard, dry board over a concrete floor. My dart broke, the tip snapped. I re-ground it sharp but it wasn't the same after that and I didn't have the money to get it repaired. That was the end of my game, I kind of just lost interest.

RE: Anyone for darts?

I do not think I have won much in darts ever it really anything other than free drinks. I used to play a good bit back but I ended up hurting my throwing shoulder and stopped shortly after. I guess I am getting old.

RE: Anyone for darts?

Yeah, I don't think I'll be playing against you, no offence! I love darts, I think its a nice game to play as a family (not involving kids).

RE: Anyone for darts?
knacker (5/28/2008)
I can play though not very well. If I've learned nothing else people can miss the board in any direction but the one that won't ruin your walls.

RE: Anyone for darts?

I should really pick this up again. And I had the other thing happen, I gave one to an ex of mine then they became an ex. :D

RE: Anyone for darts?

I used to have a practice board before my ex decided to take it with during our breakup. I should really get that replaced and start playing again.

RE: Anyone for darts?

I like to think I'm a pretty good darts player, though I have certainly learned (thanks in most to my lovely wife) not to approach women playing darts and assume I can beat them. But we have a dart board at home, so it is something the wife and I do for fun when the kids have gone to bed.

RE: Anyone for darts?

I'm a so-so dart player. Some nights I do awesome and some nights I tank. Sometimes when a group of us goes out, we'll play for beer pitchers. Whichever team wins, buys the next pitcher. I've never put money on darts, though.

RE: Anyone for darts?

I can play though not very well. We weren't much good, but I never lost a game (a fact that I think was total fluke). But despite being not so good, our last match together ever, every member of the team one.

It was awesome-the pub was shutting for good the next day. So going out like that rocked :D I have never, ever played for money.

RE: Anyone for darts?

I have to agree with you on the free drinks thing...think the most I ever bought myself was the first drink anytime I went out. I'm just a tiny thing too, well I used to be...lol. What is it with guys who think just because your petite and female, that you must not be able to do anything?? Never met one guy who didn't think they would beat me just by looking at me.

RE: Anyone for darts?

You're a better person than I am. I'll fleece anyone who wants to try me. I played on a league for a couple seasons before getting too busy but I've always kept up on my play at home. I'm not the best, but I'm not the worse and I was 5th in the league standings my last season. But since I'm just a teeny girl and rather girly looking guys think it will be great fun to play me for drinks. Needless to say I can't remember the last time I bought my own drink:D

Anyone for darts?

In my bar days, I used to play darts all the time. Used to win cash pretty much every time as there seems to be a lot of "wannabes" that will insist on trying to beat you when they see you shooting. I tried to never take advantage of the obviously intoxicated but the ones who had just enough to be annoying were fair game.
