I honestly can't imagine any circumstance where it wouldn't be worth it, especially if you ENJOY playing. The betting is just something some people do to make it more exciting. Many people don't need that extra edge, and for them a "play money" game is preferable.

Some online casinos let you convert that play money into real money except that it will be a little less. For example 100 dollars worth of play money could be just one dollar in real money

I don't really play around online so I prefer not to use real money. I do enjoy the occasional game online so Play Money is very much worth it to me!

That's exactly my point-most people are not going to make a living at gambling. They do it because they enjoy it, and because it's fun. For that reason play money can be just as good when you don't have the real cash to put down but still want to play.

Play money is a complete waste of time, the only thing it's good for is to get you used to the software before you spank your real cash. Play money for poker is particularly bad as it teaches bad habits.

If you're just playing a random game from a random site (Facebook for example) then that's fine, but if you're using (just throwing this out as an example) Monopoly money, then I really don't think it's worthwhile.

It's almost bad enough playing with chips and then not actually winning anything afterwards.

I still don't see it as being a waste of time. It's entertainment, it's gaming, it is not your employment and for most people it is not truly a source of income either. And so yes, I enjoy play money. Just like I play poker at home, with no cash involved with family.

I think the only time I have played with fake money is with children. I dont see the reason unless its for practice to play with anything but the real deal.
