One common story that I always heard was that casinos pump oxygen into the air to keep people from getting sleepy and wanting to go to bed. I was looking at snopes, and they gave a really detailed explanation of why this is not true, and where the myth originated. I found it an interesting read, I would recommend that you check that out. Has anybody else heard this myth?

I have heard stories like that too, and after reading your post I decided to go check out what snopes had to say about it. It was a very interesting read and I found the myth to be quite funny

I had heard this numerous times, so I checked it out on Snopes too. I actually thought that it was true before I read the article, but it convinced me otherwise. I bet a lot of people still believe this though!

No, I'd never heard it, and I am not sure how much sense it would make either. People tend to get really relaxed on high levels of oxygen, and are likely to care less about playing the games.

It would make sense to me based purely on how much smoke used to be in some casinos. Smoke eaters can't even hope to compete. However like most internet rumors you kind of have to assume its not true.

Actually the smoking in casinos makes it LESS likely. Pumping oxygen into the room would increase the fire risk, and with a large number of smokers around I would say that is a very real hazard.

Being an ex smoker now I would want more oxygen too, it doesnt seem that bad. Maybe the part about people not sleeping but you know just b/c you can breathe doesnt mean you wont still get sleepy.

I'm an ex smoker and at the time that I was smoking, I certainly wouldn't have wanted it being pumped in then. I was paying good money to burn that junk, I wouldn't want to counteract any of it.
