| I know that poker games (especially ones that are shown hosted at somebody's house) have a certain stereotype associated with them. They are generally all or mostly male, involve a lot of drinking and smoking, and "guy" talk among other things. Are your poker games anything like the stereotypical ones on tv and in movies?

| Well for a start, me being female, most of my games have mostly females playing them. That right there blows the stereotype apart. None of us smoke, but we do neck a few during the game.

I see the mostly male stereotype a good deal but lately I have seen more female friends of mine take part in the games. They don't just bring the sandwiches and beer anymore thats for certain. And even more I have seen bluff better than some men.

| Alot of the ones i go to are exactly the opposite actually. I've got a group of friends from high school, mostly with kids, and we get together once a month while the guys watch the kids (and in return they get the same chance). So when we play cards its usually while drinking girly drinks and chatting about makup and soap operas.

| No stereotypes here. Just a bunch of friends having a smoke free, drink free game for fun. No funky hats or shades either. I don't think I've ever seen the true stereotype.

| Since I don't go out that often I haven't noticed much of a stereotype between my friends that I play with. We all just do our own thing. There's not just one general genre of talk, not all of us drink / smoke...so it's pretty much just do whatever, but just play.

| What, no funky hats? Thats part of the fun of it all. Sometimes we have played guys against girls, or couples against couples, but we always have to keep things light with the hats. Come on now, who wants the borrow my Dr Seuss Cat in the Hat hat?

| Stereotypical game? Whenever we get together for poker we girls have fun. Every guy we play with plays the same way. Put the cards in his hands and he has an instant poker face. Even if they barely know how to play they know how to put on the mask. My friends and I find it so funny.
