I recently got in to a rather heated debate with a few people about what made a "sport"
I am of the opinion that competition for fun is "sport".
Some people though say "ice skating is no sport!" or "pool is not a sport"
So what defines sport?

| To me, sport is an activity that produces sweat LOL. Anything that includes running, jumping, throwing. It has to be physically exerting. Pool is not a sport, neither is darts. Those are hobbies. Bowling is iffy, I think I would consider it more a hobby than a sport.

| Sports are played in the Olympics. Everything else is just a game. Thats how I've always defined it and it works pretty well since the Olympics are an international choice not just national or local. They don't add every new fad either.

| Sport is any activity that includes a wide enough audience and participants to be recognized as an activity with rules and regulations. I don't know that it requires sweat or extreme physical activity. Fishing is a sport and though some fishing is strenuous the catching of small lake fish hardly requires a world weight lifting champion. Hunting is a sport and some hunters walk to a blind, sit and wait for the game and then shoot the game, the walking is exercise but not one that usually requires hours of training in a gym. I guess the definition of a "sport" really depends on the local or international acceptance of the activity as a "sport".
