| I find that by being observant of the other players I can generally tell what they are most likely to do or if they are bluffing. I pay close attention to them for several hands and keep my bets low. Once I have a handle on their reactions, then I up the ante a bit. Does anyone else do this and does it help you win as much as it seems to me?

I do this when playing against my spouse, still yet to catch on four years into our marriage. Funny though when I win and get the reaction of "whaaaaaaaaat"?

LOL! for how many years of playing with your spouse I am pretty sure that you already know what does all your spouse's gestures means.

| This is all well and good unless the person you are playing against someone who is better at bluffing than you are. I would personally be careful about relying on that or you might just come unstuck!

| I usually don't pick up on people in the first couple of rounds playing with them. I like to watch other players before I play them a few times. I get a general sense of their playing style fairly early on. If I watch long enough though I can often pick up on some quirk or something that gives them away. At that point look out. I'm a shark in the water.
