I admit, I don't play poker all that often. I still use a little chart I wrote up on which hand trumps which. My boyfriend totally teases me about it, but I've gotten confused before and mistakenly made a poor bet (just at home, with friends. not at a casino!).

I wouldn't laugh. I did the same thing when I first began playing poker for money. I had one of those decks of cards that had a cheat sheet on one of the cards so I put that card in my pocket whenever I played. Poker hands have quite a few variations so there's nothing shameful about needing reminders.

Hey, I see nothing wrong with having a cheat sheet if you need it. You need a way to memorize all the hands anyway, and a cheat sheet does that job rather admirably. People shouldn't be talking down about them like they do sometimes. Do what works for you I say!

As long as you use it at home or at friendly games it is not a bad way to learn the hands. You need to be careful though as you could actually give your hand away by looking at the sheet too often. It is best to try and learn the hands so you eventually won't need it.

There are few things that are so unpardonably neglected in our country as poker. The upper class knows very little about it. Now and then you find ambassadors who have sort of a general knowledge of the game, but the ignorance of the people is fearful. Why, I have known clergymen, good men, kind-hearted, liberal, sincere, and all that, who did not know the meaning of a "flush." It is enough to make one ashamed of the species. ~Mark Twain

I think its fully fine! I did the same thing for friendly games when I would play and just started out. Sometimes it is a little tricky but you will get the hang of it so dont fret if anyone razzes you on it.

I know that I haven't used one in sometime, nor have I played with anyone who does, but I don't think it would be such a big deal. I mean, if nothing else, you could use it as a tool to mess with your opponents at the table. I mean, I tend to over-analyze, so I might just think too much about someone who uses one, or not take them seriously at the table! That would be bad...

I think it's a great idea and I also can't help but wonder why I didn't think of this before!! If I had a cheat sheet, even if they tease me, I could probably win more Thanks for the idea!

Does calling my dad count? lol He taught me to play so when I'm not sure about something I call him up and insist he explain it to me. Obviously these are just friendly games with the guys who them tease me about needing my dad to help me out.
