| I was reading an article earlier where some of the Indian tribes in the US were going to allow gambling by minors as it's not against their tribal gaming compacts. I do hope they rethink this as I don't think it's a good idea at all.

Well I mean think about this for a little.
How many kids at least under 18 are gonna go to the casino anyway?
How many parents are gonna let their kids get into it?
Lastly how many kids are making enough money to gamble with it?
Even if they do take away the age limit i don't think much will change.

Most of our attitudes about gambling originate with religious taboos, handed down for so long that arguments against gambling are accepted easily, IMHO. I bet Native American tribes don't have these barriers because their traditions don't teach these sorts of taboos.
People under 18 gamble when they play games at carnivals and festivals, with the only difference being that paying for these "chances to win" don't have the possibility of accumulating a great deal of wealth with one lucky toss of a bean bag!

| While many laws work in some places and not others based on the cultural differences. I honestly can't see where towns are going to like allowing minors to gamble on reservation casinos though. It will definitely put a halt on people allowing new indian casinos or expansions.

| I actually feel that the legal age of gambling should be lowered, but not removed entirely. Maybe make the legal age be 18 instead of 21? That is just my opinion on the matter, and more than a few people will probably disagree with me on that one. Having the age limit be 21 just seems horribly ineffective to me.

| I'm not really sure what the age limit would be. I see some really immature 18 and 21 year olds, and I see some extremely mature 16 year olds. I think this is going to be off and on the headlines for a good time to come, very interesting.

| I know that some of the tribal casinos around here allow 18 year olds. I am not surprised they want to allow minors to gamble, more money for them. There are plenty of 16 year olds out there with money and not much sense!

| I think 18 is a better age, if we're putting an arbitrary number in. At 18, a person can go off to war and get shot, they should also be able to play poker if they want.
