She is still doing her job so why should she not be tipped? It was not her choice to tell you the drinks are on the house someone else did.

Tipping is not a common practice here in the UK, although that doesn't stop me from giving the waitress or waiter a tip, especially if they are especially nice or I am in a great mood. It is a way to say a simple 'thank you' and leaves me feeling good about it.
