Has anyone ever played Panchinko?  From what little I have read it appears to be an online version of Plunko.  It seems to be more a game of chance than skill.

I can't say I've seen that being offered but then again I might have seen the name and assumed it was a bit complicated. Sometimes I ignore games that sound odd as the rules can be complex to understand.

I have never played myself but I remember a friend back from a trip was telling me a crazy story about a hardcore pachinko player that was trying to cheat the game. I guess its taken very seriously in Japan since it is a pastime and all.

According to answers.com, Panchinko is a cross between pinball and slot machines.  It can be played by one or two players who control men armed with sword-like sticks.  Points are scored by knocking two balls into square cups.  In Japan there are Panchinko parlors where players can play for more balls, tokens or prizes.  However, Japanese law does not allow cash payouts.

Going by that description of the game, it does sound like there's a lot of chance involved, though also a bit skill I would say, particularly for timing. I've never heard of this game before.

The Japanese are crazy for Pachinko even though much of it is controlled by the Yakuza and North Korean crime lords. It's a game I love playing, since picking up a machine off eBay and wrote more about it on my blog.
