Gamcare

Registered charity GamCare is the UK’s leading authority on the social impact of gambling. They provide counselling, advice and practical help to people adversely affected by gambling.

GamCare pride themselves on their non-judgemental stance. Their aim is not to limit people’s choices, but to make sure that gambling activities are legal and responsibly operated. They are dedicated to promoting understanding of the social impact of gambling, encouraging a responsible approach and providing help to those for whom gambling has become a problem

The three main support services offered by GamCare are a telephone helpline, face-to-face counselling and an online help network. The national telephone helpline offers confidential advice, information and support for anyone dealing with gambling-related problems. The number is 0845 6000 133 and operates between 8am and midnight seven days a week.

GamCare’s face-to-face counselling sessions are designed to help problem gamblers develop strategies to cope with their addiction. The service is open to anyone affected by gambling - friends, family members or gamblers themselves. It is moderated by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Code of Ethics and Practice.

NetLine is the online support network where participants can talk live online to trained advisors. NetLine is currently available within the UK between 10am and 7pm Monday to Friday. The moderated Forum is open 24/7 and the Chat/Support operates during the following UK times:

Monday 2 - 4pm
Tuesday 2 - 4pm & 8 - 9pm
Wednesday 12 - 1pm, 2 - 3pm & 4 - 5pm
Thursday 11am - 12pm, 2 - 3pm & 8 - 9pm
Friday 11 - 12pm, 2 - 3pm & 8 - 9pm
