White Christmas odds slashed as snow hits London
The cold snap is finally upon us with a splattering of snow across the country, and as the temperatures plummet across Great Britain as do the odds for a White Christmas.
Paddy Power are seemingly expecting the 25th to met with the White stuff offering just 4/1 on their being snow in Glasgow, Cambridge and Newcastle, while it seems they are less sure of snow hitting Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff and Bristol as odds are set at slightly higher 5/1.
Elsewhere William Hill have dramatically slashed their odds on there being snow in London from 6/1 to 9/2. The bookmakers have already taken six four-figure bets on a White Christmas and face a lofty payout of over £100,000.
A William Hill spokesman said: “Along with the temperature, punters are plunging on our weather related bets.”
“If this winter is as cold as predicted it could easily be our worst weather result ever, eclipsing even our current meteorological record payout, when temperatures hit 100 degrees in 2003 costing us a six figure sum.”
A few of William Hill’s fun festive betting odds are listed below: -
William Hill White Christmas Betting: 4/1 Aberdeen, 4/1 Glasgow, 9/2 London, 6/1 Cardiff.
