Tennis starlet: I love gambling

By Andrew Allen

Tennis star Laura Robson has revealed that she loves a flutter despite the fact she has only turned 16.

The British protégé, who recently featured alongside Andy Murray at the Hopman Cup in Perth and is currently in the women’s doubles at the Australian Open, is not legally allowed to place the bets but claims that her family do occasionally help her loosens the purse strings for a bit of fun.

“I love gambling,

The money [from her tennis success] all goes in my bank account, which is very upsetting but probably wise.

“I wanted to go to the casino, but couldn’t,” she said. “A cousin went in for me and placed $100 on red. I doubled my money.

“I do seem to win,’ Robson continued.

“At Windsor races, I won £300, and another £250 when I went racing in Perth. At Windsor, I chose a horse because it was owned by the Queen and it won at 18-1.”
