Send Feedback!Netherlands vs Portugal Betting Preview: Euro 2012 »
by Gambling.com staff

From the moment the draw was made, Group B always looked a mouth-watering prospect for football betting fans across the world, with three of Europe’s top teams in the same group.
Portugal vs. Netherlands betting was always going to be a difficult one to assess. It’s likely to be a defining match to determine the outcome of the group, even more so now that both teams have fallen to 1-0 defeats in their opening games.
Portugal, boasting arguably the best player in the world in Cristiano Ronaldo, won these two nations’ last meeting at the Euros, beating the Oranje 2-1 in the semi-final in 2004 but, for the bookies, form counts more than tradition.
Ladbrokes football betting sees the Dutch as favourites, with odds of 11/10 and Portugal at 19/10, while Paddy Power football has Ronaldo and co. at 21/10 and Holland at 6/5 at the time of writing.
Following their results in the first round, a draw is likely to be of no help to either team, with Bet365 football and Ladbrokes both offering 12/5.
Considering that for both teams this might well prove to be a knock-out game the bookies seem to expect quite a low-scoring, cagey game. At the time of writing, Bet365 football is only offering 1.850 for there to be 2.5 goals or under scored during the entire game.
1-0 is the result with the shortest odds, at 6/1 for Portugal and 5/1 for the Oranje with Ladbrokes football, while Paddy Power football has slightly higher odds with Portugal at 17/2 and the Netherlands at 10/2.
On the other hand, with players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani on one side and Robin Van Persie, Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben on the other, a cheeky punt on the game finishing with 2.5 goals or more might result in a valuable return, and Holland to win 3-1 at 18/1 with Paddy Power could prove decent value for money.
This will be a huge clash for both sides; with plenty of passion and a healthy dash of bad blood between the two sides, this could turn out to be one of the tournament’s better ties. Make sure you get all the best odds on Portugal vs. Netherlands betting from the likes of Paddy Power, Ladbrokes and Bet365.
